Physically, OCS was MUCH tougher. Not much of a comparison here. Mentally, they were both pretty close. OCS they constantly remind you that you can DOR if you want (not before week 4 or 5 though–at least for the PLCers–which isn’t much of a mind game considering you finish in 6 weeks).
Is boot camp harder than OCS?
The primary reasons being that, unlike enlisted boot camp, you can request to drop out of OCS and since OCS is a selection process, they are looking for reasons to get rid of you. The combination of those two factors makes OCS much more mentally challenging than boot camp.
Is officer training harder than basic training?
Yes. The standards to become an Officer are much more strict. You must have a college degree to commission. Many earn their commission and degree concurrently while in ROTC or one of the service academies.
The training is extremely demanding, both mentally and physically. Upon successful completion of OCS, you will be commissioned as a Navy Officer. The first three weeks of Navy Boot Camp are clearly the toughest (physically, and stressfully). Get through the first three weeks, and you’ll almost assuredly graduate. As with Army and Air Force Basic Training, during the first couple of weeks, you’ll find that no one can seem to do anything right.
Do OCS candidates go to basic training?

Yes, it is possible to fail basic training. You could go through the trouble of leaving your home, job, family and friends and come back a failure. In fact, this happens to about 15% of recruits who join the military every year. Too many recruits I speak to think that it is impossible to fail basic training.
Navy Officer Candidate School
Officer Candidate School is a 13-week course located at Naval Station Newport, Rhode Island. Navy OCS prepares you to assume the responsibilities of a naval officer and helps you develop to your fullest potential.
Applicants should be between 17-34 years old and able to satisfactorily pass a background check. OCS applications are handled through the Navy Recruiting Command.
Is the OAR Test hard? The OAR test is challenging. As mentioned, the exam has three different subtests with multiple choice questions for each section. Furthermore, there are 30 math questions, 20 reading comprehension questions, and 30 mechanical comprehension questions.
